Inner Child Resources

These tools are about meditation, journaling, and animism.

Connecting with your Inner child can be a really vital part of your relationship with yourself. Our childhood is always with us and as Sigmund Freud believed, our past can influence our present in many ways.

Connecting with your inner child can be very rewarding

  • Heal past wounds: process wounds and unresolved feelings

  • Rediscover joy, creativity, playfulness, wonder for life and whimsy, and spontaneity

  • Can give you more emotional expression and freedom as you bring more awareness to a parts of yourself

  • Improve your relationships as you learn more about your needs, triggers

  • Children are super resilient, imaginative,  and adaptable - maybe as you tap back into your inner child, you can bring more of that into your life now

Meditation:

So everyone can close their eyes drop into your body

And take a slow deep breath

Inhale through nose

exhaling out through your mouth.

Inhale, your belly softens - tailbone extends

Exhale your navel collapses in towards your spine

(Space)

with each inhale, you gather up all the stressors from the day

and pushing them down  out into the Earth as you exhale

Giving it to the earth

  • As energy as fertilizer

And you can do this a couple times

(Space)

Inhale soft belly

Exhale belly collapses to spine

With your eyes closed, you are going to imagine a place in nature

A place where you can lean your body against

Imagine a big oak tree

A big rock

A mountain

A body of water

Someplace that feels really good to you

And I want you to ask this Big Tree or these mountains whatever it is

To support you

(Space)

And as you are leaning against this place

Notice in your body having this supportive energy

You can feel your jaw soften

Your shoulders drop and neck relax

 the back of your body

Against this place in nature

And as you are leaning against this tree or rock ,  as your body gets heavy and easy

you imagine your inner child

They may be leaning against the tree or rock with you

They can be playing

They can be peaking their head out of a bush,

Unsure of this new environment

With your spine still leaning against this rock mountain or tree

Feel yourself here

Feel your inner child here

the reason we start with mountains or big rocks

is because

These bodies of nature

Are benign

this great capacity to hold you

to support you without any agenda or conditions

And they have this bigness to them

In this place

your inner child is always met

There is always a yes

Your inner child can be as loud as they are, as angry, as wild, as rampunctous, as timid, as shy

whatever you and your inner child need to express

These elements are big enough to hold it and receive it

If it feels right,

You can imagine a favorite animal coming into the place

A beloved dog, cat,

Maybe there is a sweet bear, some deer

A butterfly

They are all here to support you

And you are allowing your little one to have this feeling of support

Space

My teacher Teeni always says: If you have a problem, make the resources bigger than the problem

And so I offer This place as a resource to your inner child

And as you lean against this place

Feel a lessening on your forehead

A softening  between your eyebrows

Feel the inner corners of your eyes sink into your face

And the outer corners of your eyes slip down your face

Now maybe today, it was difficult to connect or feel that support.

Maybe your inner child didn’t trust you

Maybe it felt awkward

That’s okay

That is understandable

These things take time

You can come back here anytime you like

Now we’re going to slowly come back

You can wriggle your nose

Touch your skin

I am here
